London Youth Rowing
London Youth Rowing (LYR) is a London-based charity founded to develop young people through physical activity and open access to rowing at all levels. In six years, LYR has worked with over 100 London schools and youth clubs, involved over 10,000 young people in different LYR activities and introduced more than 1,000 young people young people to on-water rowing, most for the first time.
In support of LYR I have teamed up with Allium Opus to organise a fundraising event that we hope will grow into the wintertime charity equivalent of the marathon (similar in fundraising fun and capacity, except that the good news is the event itself only lasts an hour!). Relay teams of five will enter to race 10,000m on indoor rowing machines. Teams will earn their starting position based on the funds they raise. Teams will also have the opportunity to hire professional (or ex-professional) team members from the organisers; to a) increase their teams chance of success and b) increase the money raised for charity.
We are looking for sponsorship for this event and for teams to enter. For more information please contact me. It promises to be a fantastic event and I will keep this site updated as planning progresses.
Credit skills and training materials
My credit training at Citi was first rate and I will always be grateful to my managers and mentors who were often tough but usually fair! I was a credit officer for 10 years looking after large corporates and their global portfolio of banking facilities. I ran audits for external regulators as well as participating on review teams for internal audits. Following the 2008 banking crisis, I wrote materials for and helped to run internal training for senior managers using case studies compiled from real events that took place during the crisis. I really enjoy being involved in training and have since worked on developing training materials for a company that delivers credit training. I am a qualified member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers and my Vanilla Finance business keeps me up to date on market events. If you would like to discuss me developing training materials or consulting in this area please contact me >>.
Property
I’ve had a keen interest in property, interiors and everything to do with homes for many years. As investments, rental properties can be fantastic sources of cash flow and I’m always interested in property related opportunities. I tend to keep my investments local because that way I keep my finger on the pulse. Rich Dad, Poor Dad and other teachings by Robert Kiyosaki and his wife Kim made me realise that taking control of your own financial future by building assets which produce cash flow is the only sensible thing to do in this increasingly unstable financial world.
